Creating change through education
At Justice Vanguard, we build community and combat marginalization and discrimination through education. We create education programs and videos for everyone from individuals to schools and organizations.
How does Education combat marginalization?
Marginalization results from a system of laws, infrastructure, and diminished access to opportunity in many communities. Understanding how these systems disproportionately affect communities of color and minority groups is the first step in acting.
The Problem
Our schools lack education on diverse perspectives and history, blatantly ignoring contributions made by POC and creating a false narrative of our history, which students then apply to their own daily lives.
Everything from the social media and TV we consume to the advertising and imagery we see enforces this notion of false equality.
This translates to individuals having unconscious bias, a lack of recognition of systematic racism, and not understanding their privilege.
Organizations play a huge role in maintaining these systems through their hiring practices, wage gaps, lack of POC in positions of power and problematic community engagement.
